Concerto Glassico 2016, a project in support of the Czech glass and glass jewellery-making industry, has recently opened a new exhibition in Prague. This exhibition presents the uniqueness of Czech glass, exploring different processing techniques and the importance of glass education.
Czech glass is recognised worldwide for its innovative designs, high quality craftsmanship, and of course its beauty. Pieces are hand-cut, engraved, blown and painted, and range from enormous chandeliers to intricate jewellery and figurines.
Concerto Glassico 2016 is taking place in The Tuscany Palace, a stunning Baroque building built by Giacomo Antonio Canavalle. The palace underwent a total reconstruction in the 1990s, however still boasts numerous statues by famous Bohemian Baroque sculptor Maxmilián Brokof.
Witness live performance glass work, including glass blowing, engraving and cutting, blowing of glass figurines and winding of lamp beads. Visitors can even have a go at this beautiful art themselves by getting involved in creative workshops supervised by experts.
