There are various gastronomic events taking place in Prague where you can taste local specialities, traditional tastes as well as exotic flavours from abroad. We prepared a list of popular events you can try during your visit in autumn!


St. Wenceslas vineyard

 When? Daily from 10 am to 11 pm

Where? The Prague Castle, the Old Castle Steps, Hradčany Prague 1

If you like wine, you should definitely visit a close-by St. Wenceslas vineyard accessible from the Prague Castle (the entrance is from “Jiřská” street). A legend says that the oldest Bohemian vineyard was founded in the 10th century by the patron of Czech lands, St. Wenceslas. The dominant of the vineyard is a beautiful Richter´s Villa with a greenhouse built in classicist style. The vineyard offers panoramic view of the Old Town and the Lesser Town of Prague and you may enjoy some refreshments and wine of course!


How to get there from Almandine Apartments? The St Wenceslas vineyard is in walking distance from Almandine Apartments, it takes about 45 minutes by foot. The fastest way to visit the vineyard is via metro line A (the green one) from “Můstek” to “Malostranská” and then you need to go up the Old Castle Steps (


Festival of delicious flavors

When?  13th October 2018, from 10 am to 6 pm

Where? Novoměstská radnice, Karlovo náměstí – Prague 2

How much? Free admission

On Saturday 13th October you can visit a festival of delicious foods from all over the world in historical interiors of the New Town Hall (“Novoměstská radnice”). This year the theme will be seasonally warm. You can look forward to combinations of salty and sweet dishes, spicy Asian curry, spicy dips, hot soups, Swiss raclette or tasty burgers. There will also be prepared local farmers’ products and beverages such as popular mulled vine (hot red vine with mulling spices).

Food festivals at Smíchov Embankment

When?  On Saturdays, usually from 10 am to 6 pm

Where? Smíchovská náplavka, The Upper Embankment – Prague 5

How much? Admission fee is around 50 – 100 CZK

The Upper embankment at Smíchov, called “Náplavka” by locals, hosts many cultural and gastronomic events during the year. While tasting the specialities by the Vltava River, you can enjoy a unique view of the historical landmark Vyšehrad Castle. On Saturdays, there will be an abundance of stalls serving specialities from various regions prepared for you. You can try some of upcoming events listed below.

How to get there from Almandine Apartments? It is a nice walk along the Vltava River for approx. 30 minutes and you can meet Prague dominants such as the National Theatre or the Dancing House. Another option is to use metro line B (the yellow one) from station “Můstek” to station “Anděl”, and then about 10 minutes by foot to get there, as you can see in this link


Farmer’s Market in Prague

When? Every Saturday, from 8 am to 2 pm

Where? Rašínovo nábřeží, the New Town – Prague 2

How much? Free admission

There are several Farmers´ Markets taking place in Prague. Every Saturday in autumn, you can visit for instance the Farmers´ Market in “Rašínovo nábřeží” along the Vltava River. The Market offers traditional food and products strictly from local producers. Products for sale typically include seasonal fruit, vegetable, pastry, fresh fish, mushrooms, cheeses, eggs and much more. You can enjoy colours, smells and pleasant atmosphere on the Vltava River bank.

How to get there from Almandine Apartments? The Rašínovo nábřeží is located 25 minutes by foot from your accommodation. You can also use metro line B (the yellow one) from station “Můstek” to station “Karlovo náměstí” (use the exit to “Palackého náměstí”), as you can see here
